uke and seme are just words for bottom and top basically. It used to be neko and tachi, but uke and seme became more popular as bl started growing in the west, so thats just the terminology used by people who enjoy yaoi. It’s also strictly a thing for people in the community because yaoi is so weird and uke/seme are japanese words
