Sooooo before I discovered this ratchet-ass website that I secretly love I only knew the terminologies " top, bottom, and switch". Then outta the buttcrack of dawn came new terms like "uke, seme, and seke"(lulz it's the fact that grammar check doesn't recognize "seke" as a word). Anyways, the new terms used to confuse me but I eventually learned them and now I'm just here wondering where they even came from. Were they always a thing and I was just living under a rock? 0_0
I don’t know where Seke came from but it’s the equivalent to a Switch. Uke and Seme can also be Neko and Tachi. “Uke” was someone who’d receive an attack of some sort in martial arts and a “Seme” was the attacker. Pretty dumb thing to apply sexual connotation to but whatever. 1 reply
uke and seme are just words for bottom and top basically. It used to be neko and tachi, but uke and seme became more popular as bl started growing in the west, so thats just the terminology used by people who enjoy yaoi. It’s also strictly a thing for people in the community because yaoi is so weird and uke/seme are japanese words 2 reply
