BL rant

I'm just gonna go on a rant about something that really bothers me with this community and that is how bl's are written and how people perceive the story that is written.

First off the people, some of you guys are aggressive and it shows. I go to comment sections after reading a chapter and I see people talking about a side character that is the antagonist or maybe flirts with the seme or uke. Then for no reason, there is a hoard of people saying how that character is a bitch, whore, deserves to die, etc. Not only that but they aren't called out on those types of things and it's concerning. I understand that it is a fictional character and what you say won't affect them, but saying those types of things don't add anything to the story and is unnecessary. I know people will tell me that it is harmless, however, when it is to that extent it's not. I understand if you would like to say that you don't like that character cause they are getting in the way of the uke and seme's relationship, although there isn't a reason that it needs to be taken to the point of calling them a bitch. I would much rather see the comment section have people make an argument of why they don't like someone or post a theory that they think with happening in the manga, comic, manhwa, etc. I'm just sick of seeing people go too far and not be called out on their aggression. Yes, it may not be aimed towards a real person but it glorifies it so that it is more likely to happen to an actual person. The line between fiction and reality becomes blurred even if you may think that it isn't.

The other thing that I wanted to talk about was how BL's are written. I love a lot of the stories that are written and I think many writers/artists do a wonderful job of portraying that story, but I have noticed that many popular stories are popular in a way that promotes bad behaviors. One of the biggest ones is "My Suha". I'm sure that most of you already know the story as it is quite popular. It's one of the worst BL's in my opinion. The story is constantly romanizing and using rape as a way to drive the story forward. Rape has been used as a way to make the uke and seme closer and is used as a plot point. When the uke has been raped it's treated like nothing. He has no reaction or emotional trauma from it. I have never been raped or put in that position, but you can't write a character that goes through that experience and then never talks about it or isn't affected by it. That's not even the worse part either. There was one scene in which the uke RAPED the seme while he was ASLEEP. This was talked about in the comment section, but in the next chapter, it was treated like it was nothing after the artist wrote it off as okay. The seme said that was okay and he was fine with it and people in the comment section just went along with it. That is what concerns me is that after the writer put it off as something that was okay and both parties said it was okay that people just accepted it. In no way is that situation okay even if both parties had consent. At the time the seme was unable to consent as he was asleep, so it is rape. They as a writer/artist have a lot of influence over people and to just treat a situation like that as a plot device is wrong and makes rape in cases where it is not okay, seem okay is wrong. I know not everyone on here is of legal age, I'm not stupid and that's why it's such a problem because it's teaching people who likely haven't had sex or been in a relationship like that, that it is a normal and acceptable thing to do when it isn't.

That isn't the only story that does it, I have just noticed it the most in that story. A lot of the popular ones choose to use sex as a way to push the story forward. Many BL's have sex almost every chapter or hint towards it and to me, it ruins the story. I'm not saying that there shouldn't be any sex scenes in BL's but they shouldn't be used as a way to create a relationship or be the main way the uke and seme interact.

Thanks for reading my long-winded post and I am always willing to talk about the issue as I want to it change.
