Stopped enjoying Yaoi

This was accidentally posted in the wrong area of Mangago but I wanted to post it here to actually get advice or give advice:

I was 10/11 when I first found Yaoi smut, I was one of those straight girls who would say gay guys are superior, I only read Yaoi, He’s such a bottom, etc. I read so many disgusting and disappointing Yaoi comics that portrayed gay men as obsessed sex people, they make me gag today. I realized what I did was horrible when I turned 13 and educated myself on how a lot of gay men feel about how it feels to be fetishized. I always believe if enough people in a community are offended then we should listen. Around that time I discovered my sexuality as bisexual. Ofc at that time I learned about straight men beating off to lesbian porn and straight men saying, “Gay guys are gross but lesbians are hot”. It made me so sad how I thought Yaoi comics were hot and it felt like a fair comparison to straight men calling lesbians hot or girls avoiding GL/Yuri but loving Yaoi.

Ever since I distanced myself from Yaoi comics and honestly just started to despise it. I felt gross reading Yaoi/BL except Here U Are (I believe it’s categorized as shounen ai though?). So I want to get rid of this prejudice against MLM comics by reading some actual good ones and makes you feel represented well as a gay man or just yaoi that isn’t just sex.
P.s. also some GL or Yuri recs are very much appreciated!
