why kids shouldnt read yaoi (13-)
i made a topic like this, but i got into an argument with some kid about why its "okay to read yaoi at age 10" so here it goes.
even if youre 10, 11 or 12 and think you have the maturity to look at this stuff, u dont.
yall in MIDDLE SCHOOL. youre young and impressionable. most of these kids havent even been educated on proper sex ed, and they look at this and think these depictions of gay sex are REAL.
they think this is how consent works, or this is how a relationship should work. fine, watch porn, but dear god dont look at yaoi as real depictions of gay sex, or just sex in general.
these kids are the same type of kids that would walk up to a gay man and asks if hes the uke. istg. theyre the type to proudly call themselves fujoshis (in the context of being obsessed with gay men and gay sex, not just liking bl. no one likes that nickname anyways lol)
i didnt discover yaoi till my late freshman year old highschool, and even then, i was shocked to learn it exists. and there are 5th grades enthusing about how horny it makes them?????? stop it fr.
i mean if you want to read bl so bad, at least read healthy depictions of it. at that point, its just romance between two guys. but looking at junjou romantica and thinking thats how gay relationships work.............

i was introduced to bl this year (14) and some stories (admittedly) are really messed up. Thankfully i also know the foundations of healthy relationships- but would not recommend crazy stories like killing stalking to my sibling (13) because its all a matter of what you've been exposed to, (cherry blossoms after winter is another story). For me tho......

Kids, surprisingly, aren't stupid. They can be mature enough to understand that it's not healthy or okay, even when the manhwa/manga is romanticizing it. I know because I've read this kind of stuff since I was 11, and I completely understood. Although not ALL kids are mature enough, some are.

I totally agree with you here dude. I've seen kids outly say that adult and children (shota), teachers and students and TWIN FUCKING BROTHERS should date. Honestly dude, I LITERALLY GO TO A HOSPITAL SCHOOL AND I KNOW THAT THATS JUST FUCKED UP.

Well actually I am 12 and started reading manga and watching anime at 10 and ended up landing at yaoi I agree with you that most of the people at my age seeing all of this rape and shit manga are gonna be under the influence that all relationships work like that and they are gonna grow up with this idea and they may evev try on their gf/bf and end ......

iv read manga since i was 9 and i started reading BL/yaoi at 10, im like 15 now but my opinion is that kids can read BL (shounen-ai), BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTTTTTTTT NOT FUCKING YAOI RAPE SHIT LMAOAOAOOAOA. YOU CAN READ THAT FLUFFY BL BUT NOT RAPE SHIT.

I mean yeah of course it's super fucked up that 10 year olds are reading this shit but I mean, you can't do anything about that. Pornography is online for free, which yaoi is technically a part of, you can't just stop kids from reading this. You can only make an effort to educate.
