Why are they uncomfortable?
Is there a reason why they suddenly changed their mind?
Ask them if you don't know.
Maybe they just need time to be used of that.
Or they don't know how they should act now(perhaps they think how not to give you false hopes if they are same gender or they are focusing about other people's opinions).
