POV based on real life events; The Chicken Nugget War of 2018:
It is December 2018, 2 weeks before christmas break. School was kinda for the most part boring because the Sophomores were testing. The principal has decided that everyone will have the same lunch wave, however the cafeteria was not made to fit over 500 kids plus teachers and staff. Many tables are crowded, all the tables, except for the the teacher tables are pushed together. Many people were sitting on the floors, you even saw someone eating their mystery burger by the trashcans for gods sake...
You find your friend among the bunches of people crowded together and you discuss where tf y'all will sit since you both got here relatively late and your usual spots got taken. You both get your food, chicken nuggets with peas and mashed potatoes and wings and things, both delicacy in this school. Your friend left you immediately after putting in her lunch number found a seat next to a friend of hers who saved that seat for her apparently. She proceeds to sit down and tells you to just go find a seat somewhere else, you almost break out into tears from embarrassment and anger, when a guy gives his seat to you out of pity.
You sat down, then another girl shows up, a friend of your friend's friend, who tells her to get up, so a dude next to you also gives up his seat for your friend, she looks and sounds angry and disappointed that she now has to sit next to you instead.
5 minutes of silence later in the the loudness of the cafeteria, you both suddenly hear two dudes arguing over stolen chicken nuggets??? Then suddenly they both get up, walk all the way to the end of the table, and start throwing hands. Everyone stops what they're doing, everyone gets up to see, gathering around, the fight starts going stronger, fuck you also wanna see so, like some of the other people, you also stand on the table for a better view, the coaches are lowkey scared to intervene so they just kinda....stand there....until they do intervene. Cops are called, the school cop calls for back up to arrest the other one, both dudes get put in separate cop cars. And everything dies down, though the people on the right side of the cafeteria have no goddamn clue what just happened. You can't get back to eating as like 3 people ran across the table and pretty much stepped in everyone's food. Your friend's food looked fine so you grabbed one of the hot wings. After you finish consuming, that when she says to you that somebody stepped in her food....
Not long after the really big dude, former football player who threatened to shoot you a day ago just for sitting in a seat that he only sits in during the rare occassions he was ever on the bus and that day he just so happened to get on the bus, started yelling like he was about to fight someone, which was jarring.
It soon was finally time to end lunch after that...
You decided to leave before everyone else did, and everyone else swarmed out a minute or so later, you were just about to the building your math class was in when suddenly, quite a bit behind, you hear sudden screams of fear and running. Someone threw a bottle at the PHATTEST hornet nest out near the band building. So you speed into the building.
Soon after, you find out there was a fight in the office building. And then you see a fight right outside in the hallway.
God we only have an hour and a half of school left, wtf is even going on.
Halfway through class you hear shouting in the freshman math class, and also shouting from the girls bathroom, there was fighting in both areas, one involving a substitute teacher fighting, the other a teacher is trying to intervene.
You leave that class and immediately see someone get decked in the face while going to class, and multiple people having a conversation about who they're going to jump next. You also heard there was ANOTHER fight that happened in the bathroom of the office building.
Your next teacher had her classes sit in the library in the office building for most of the day, but apparently that wasn't the case for yours as the last class of the day, just when you'd reached the office building, you saw half of your class mates leaving and going to the classroom, which was in the building you JUST left from, your legs are in pain from all this walking, but you walk with them regardless.
The teacher, once everyone is there tells you all that you have a test but you can use all your previous notes and worksheets. She left and had another teacher watch us during this time. You had none and failed the test. A few minutes later as everyone was getting done, someone throws a pencil at their friend. Who then gets up and beats their ass out of nowhere. This causes everyone's fight or flight to trigger and we all proceed to run and get out the way. Desks and chairs have been thrown everywhere and the just start chokeholding while punching each other in the heads. Three teachers enter the room yelling, but the fight is still going, so the try to pull the kids off each other, our teacher yells at the person closest to the phone to call the office to notify the assistant principal, he was already on his way. The people in the yearbook room were just kinda watching from afar as everything was deescalated. You have many thoughts about the last part of this day. Both kids left with the assistant principal and in the hands of two teachers, and someone immediately airdropped the fight footage.
Finally the bell rang to leave school, you hurried to the bus ramp, to wait on your bus. You heard there were 3 other fights somewhere though you had no time to think as a fight was about to start at the buses. The next day you heard that someone at the trailers that kids were previously testing in, got knocked tf out, you saw the video most, a big bodied dude hit a muscular dude in the side of his head, he was somehow still standing, he was hit again, this time his head hitting the side of the trailer and instantly knocking him out cold on the ground. Absolutely no one helped him lmao and his body was just kinda laying there for an hour after everyone left school before someone called for help.
You have many, many thoughts about all of this and many more about if you had gotten dragged into any of this and what you would have done.
