How I got into Yaoi

I think I was about 6 years old when I read my first sexual story. As long I've been reading I've been interested in stories with unconditional love. At that age sex was just another way of expressing that overwhelming love. At 9 though I had finished all of the Harry Potter books and started to become the ultimate HP fangirl I am to this day. I felt lost without new material so like many fangirls I turned to fanfiction. At first I was reading the sweet G-rated stories about Harry's kids. I was happy for a while before I became dissatisfied there was something about some of the canon HP relationships that I didn't like. So I turned to Quotev (It was a really popular site at the time). I wanted to write stories that satisfied me in the way the other stories hadn't. At that time I'd been sidetracked by One Direction who made their debut that year and had written a fanfiction called To: Prince Charming, which I posted a few years later but never finished. Being a writer though helped me connect with other writers interested in the same things I was. This one girl loved HP the way I did and I checked out some of her stories. After reading an original by her that I thought was great I went onto her profile to see more of her stories and surprisingly saw Drarry fanart. I was so surprised at the time but that fanart put me onto the fast track to discovering Yaoi. After that I started reading BL fanfiction and I got into anime around that time too. I loved the characters and wanted to be able to read their stories too. I quickly found out about manga and started reading them 24/7. I wanted to learn as much as I could about manga and started to teach myself about the terms/tags. After I clicked on the Yaoi tag one day I was dragged in. Never to be seen by the shoujo world again.
