Messed up first time
When I was in university, a college friend who is a member of a famous anime/manga organization in the campus started asking me questions on whether I've tried reading yaoi. I said I haven't and that I wouldn't (yeah right) because I'm kinda scared of crossing the "line". She laughed and told me that it isn't really that different compared to other genres.
Two months after that conversation, I found myself in front of the computer in one of the - then - most popular manga downloading sites. I remember that I kept looking behind me because I was so scared that someone will walk on me reading yaoi. I clicked on the genre and just download the first yaoi title that appeared. I didn't read its description or summary - a fatal mistake.
I decided to read this yaoi at home (I downloaded it at from a computer cafe, saved it in my usb). It was around midnight and I was in my room. I could not remember the title but I could still remember the story. The seme is a kindergarten teacher who is also a serial killer of kids. His uke is a boy (about 17 yo) who is a member of this gang whose boss's kid (maybe relative) was one of the victims of the seme. The manga was very graphic. There was a scene where the victim's body was shown - it was mutilated, raped - just messed up. (⊙…⊙ ) Then seme and uke fell in love. The seme had an iguana for a pet and when him and uke had sex, it was shown through the eyes of the iguana. I shudder every time I remember that. They also had sex in one of the places where the seme killed his victim.
That yaoi set me back from reading any yaoi for almost a year. I was traumatized by it.

haha thank you! I shall carefully read the summary before deciding if I want to read it ;)
I think it's Boys Next Door by Yuki Kaori. It is pretty graphic for a first timer. That's unlucky. I hope you head a cute series for your second try though^^
Wow (⊙…⊙ ) That was it! Seeing the cover brought all the memories back. Reading the description, I realized some of my details aren't correct, but THAT is definitely IT. And yes, I learned my lesson after a year of being traumatized by that. I learned to read manga descriptions first before reading it. (⌒▽⌒)
P.S. I'm not sure whether to thank you for telling me the title of this manga. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean to sound rude but it really traumatized me. It was just a bad memory I want to forget but can't seem to. :(
Ahaha you can thank me or curse me for it, and it wouldn't make a difference. There are worse yaoi out there that's so twisted, you would think 'WTF did I just read.' Some of them are twistedly awesome though (*cough* Harada-sensei *cough*)
You're right. But for a first read, mine is pretty scarring, a baptism of fire. And years later after that experience, I read Harada-sensei's work too. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ What an irony. But I still can't imagine myself rereading my first yaoi manga. Thanks for telling me the title. I mean it now. Maybe 10 more years and I'll be able to reread it again.
Lol. Just desensitise yourself by reading more twisted stuff. I'm sure in 10 years you'll be immune to it by then. Hahahaa I wish you all the best in trying lol *thumb up*
This manga actually sounds really interesting lol.... would you by any chance remember the name of it?
I forgot the title but Risa95 said it's Boys Next Door and she got it right. Word of caution: Read at your own risk. You have been warned. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
