so a few minutes ago I was talking with my friend and he told me he wanted to read a manga (note: He has never read a manga before) I was quite surprised but he seemed really into it so since he liked The promised neverland, I told him to read the manga. A few minutes latter he texts me saying “why manga isn’t full color? it looks much better that way” I gasp hysterically like a normal person will do. He then tells me he can’t quite understand the drawings when is black and white, which I assume he’s referring to details(?
They probably are used to reading webtoons and manhwa. Tbh when I was first getting into manga I would try to go to webtoon formatted one. No problem here, just his preference. reply
When it's colored, it's usually a scroll manwha/manhua. (Korean/Chinese)
But when it's black and white it will usually be a manga (Japanese), and that's okay. Have you told him to read the manga from left to right? reply
Unlike Korea/China/America, our comics/webtoons/manhwa/manhua are in color and read left to right. So he was probably used to seeing it in color versus being in just black and white. And so for a person who's never read Japanese manga, the contrast can be quite surprising and different reply
