Blood-relatives = family > Everyone else that you care about.
I think filial piety (+domestic roles) is the perfect excuse for toxic/abusive relatives to take advantage of you and idk about others but for me, that BS is enough to convince me to place the home of my heart with someone else instead of "family". Blood doesn't mean shit when it comes ......
