I personally believe in God but I don't think its necessary to join a religion to practice my faith. I feel that as long as we do not hurt others, covet our neighbours' property and comply with other basic rules of life, we're good to go.
Unfortunately, I live in a society where every one is expected to have a religion and practice them moderatel......
