Happens all the time. It's surely not as easy as manga/anime portrays it, but it does happen. Sometimes it's about the person being bored of the same, ol' hetero sex, so tries to venture outside of his/her comfort zone for some extra pleasure... Other times, they just meet an incredible person of the same gender, and it turns into a crush, to full ......
