Fujoshi is a Japanese term that means “rotten woman” and has been associated with women who like reading yaoi and bl, often to an unhealthy degree. Although this term was probably introduced just to shame women for enjoying something or going against what was deemed to be culturally appropriate, fujoshi is still a term that is seen as negative by many. However, I have seen many people proudly proclaim that they are a fujoshi/fudanshi and either don’t care or believe that it has a negative meaning. I am not here to say whether labeling yourself as a fujoshi is okay or not ( I honestly don’t care), but since there are conflicting beliefs on this topic, I am interested in knowing what you think.^_^
Idc about what the actual translation is, ad it’s not like we’re going to find another agreed upon name for people who’d read yaoi. I honestly don’t care and as long as it’s an agreed term I’ll stick with it. 1 reply
I am indifferent to this label, good for those who find usefulness on it, but it doesn't define me. The stereotype of the delusional, often young female who is unable to separate reality from fiction and disturb people in real life with their "shipping" BS is quite sad and pathetic, fortunately, I have never met such a walking cliche IRL ^^ 1 reply
