Since the USA is so large, I'll break it down by states that I've lived in.

Utah is, for the most part, an extremely religious state that has little love or allyship for the LGBT community. During high school, it was pretty common to hear about friends and friends of friends getting kicked out of their homes by parents after they came out. The city that I lived in in Utah, however, was pretty progressive and a relatively safe place for LGBT (it even has a gay mayor now! yay!)

Georgia, again, is a very religious state and, going outside the urban areas, it felt extremely unsafe as someone who is gay. Lots of people still waving around confederate flags in the countryside of Georgia... But the city I lived in was one of the birthplaces of the American civil right movement, so they're was a lot of love for diversity and allyship in that city in particular.

California is extremely welcoming to LGBT communities. Even the conservatives in California are not half as intolerant as other places in the US, and they are very much in the minority.

Anyways, this is to say, the United States is a mixed bag and now that gay marriage was upheld by the supreme court here, the national stage is less relevant than the fight for LGBT rights on a regional level (especially for trans. rights).

I'm in the Philippines and I guess you could say it's a mix depending on who you're talking to. I think we're slowly moving towards progressiveness but it's still too early to say we're progressive. For instance we elected a transgender female in politics but she has this issue with Pacquiao right now and plenty of people are backing him up. There's also this anti-discrimination bill we held back for years and many people still think it's useless ლ(´ڡ`ლ) though I'm really glad more and more people are coming out as LGBT+ here and more people are showing their support because it shows that we're changing our values and I don't think that's any bad (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
