im mainly southeast asian and one that comes to mine is like a version of a donut, or "you tiao/banh quay" you can honestly eat it with anything as it's not very sweet, but also chewy. like i love the texture, as its not super chewy like a regular donut but like just the right amount as well as being perfectly crispy my family eats it with soups ma......   5 reply

More "pan-fried" than "deep-fried" here, but bannock comes to mind! It may have European routes, idk, but in Canada it's an indigenous flatbread/quick bread and it's sooooooo good! You can top it with whatever you want, but my favorite is butter, cinnamon, and sugar~   1 reply
