BL Plot isn’t compelling/ need readers input
[Question]

In the past, I’ve written many stories for sites like Wattpad, but as an art student I want to take my stories to the next level. Because this is more work than a traditional novel, I don’t want to make any mistakes on the plot. Currently, I’m aiming for character development. Some plot lines I’ve written involve Fantasy, crime and mystery, but all centered on a romantic relationship.
Could you share what are some of the greatest aspects of your favorite BLs so far.
I mean, characters or plot development, the art style or the way the story was formatted, the roles of the relationship, how much the engaged in sensual acts, favorite scenes, what annoys you, what you wish you saw more.
Literally anything works!
I can also be contacted on twitter @hobleehobi
I’m looking for proofreaders or general readers who I would review the chapters ahead of time and give me feedback as I go along.
Thank you for any replies!

is there a first step to writing fiction?
[Question]

i tried searching how to start writing fiction but almost all of the results were about writing and publishing a first novel. i'm not ready for that yet. i'm not sure if i ever want to get published or just keep it as a hobby and share online when i'm ready. i guess what i'm asking for is tips or how you think i should approach fiction writing. if you're a fiction writer how did you approach it? also i read some articles that said i should have a thorough plot outline and detailed characters before writing and i get how that could be helpful but to me it honestly sounds like work and would take the fun out of writing for me. how i used to write stories as a teen (and before self-doubt crawled its way in) was i'd get a small idea of the story and characters and just start writing. yeah the plot was all over the place and inconsistent, and the characters were flat and inconsistent but i had fun with it. but do i have to have a thorough outline and detailed characters before writing? is that the only way to do it? i did try fleshing one of my characters out but found I had a mental block when it came to questions like what his strengths and weaknesses are, his backstory, his relationships with his friends and family, you know the non-basic questions. idk. i don't want to give up on it again. i just want to play in the shallow end and learn before writing a novel but don't know how to.

I have a friend that - although the topic of sexualities hasn't really been discussed, just based on the way she explains herself, I assume - is heterosexual or at least heteromantic, and she only writes heterosexual characters. Literally, not once have I ever seen her make any sort of LGBT+ character, and we roleplay so even when my characters have had crushes, they're still straight. So it got me wondering -
Heterosexual/romantic authors, artists, etc., do you write queer characters commonly? I don't mean like token characters, the one or two that are gay to meet a quota, but like fully fleshed out queer casts? Being wlw myself, almost all of my characters are queer to some extent so I don't have a very good frame of reference, haha. But I'm really curious!
