Something I'm thinking about more and more these days is how common it is with BL mangas/manhwa/webtoons etc. that it glorifies toxic relationships. Now I am not referring to rape alone (even if it is included in the list), but everyday red flags, e.g. controlling, being a jerk/asshole and manipulative, but the story presents it as positive qualities.
I'll admit I've read and liked stories with these points e.g. 'BJ Alex' so I'm not innocent, but in my defense the reasons are either I think Seme has "made amends" for his past or smut ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

It is different if the story contains a toxic relationship that makes it clear that the relationship is harmful e.g. No Holes Barred (Not BL)

Honestly, I don't read smut to get off most of the time. I read it because the stories are more adult-orientated or just boredom, but I usually read anything when bored. I don't usually read it in public unless it's in novel form.   reply

If it's just a one off scene as part of a story you've been reading, then that's fine idc much about people reading that in public, but if it's a smut story then that's gross. Like you're no different from some weirdo gooner guy watching a porn video in public   reply

Some do. I also get shocked because even with all the protective thingy I have in my phone I would still get nervous that somebody will see what I read and honestly??? SMUT REALLYY??? Like I thought we just read those at home   reply

As long it doesn't have pictures that can be recognized from afar, it should be safe to READ fanfics and texts that are smut! Otherwise you gotta just use a private screen protector or hid your phone and you should be safe XD   1 reply

I don't mind if it's a novel cause people will just think I read a regular book unless they know specifically what book I'm reading. but manhwa/manga? no. who knows? people might stare at me like you or worse they record without me knowing & then my face will be all over the internet. I'd hate that. I prefer reading that in my comfort bubble at hom......   reply

Reminder that reading smut in public is the exact same as watching porn in public lol   2 reply
