The title of the question made me laugh but the actual question makes sense. In the fictional realm and yaoi in particular, my opinion is that both are equally bad. I've read some mangas where a character gets raped and thinks nothing of it, no psychological trauma at all and I'm sitting here like "WTF CALL THE POLICE!!" Rape is most definitely worse. It's like having you body stripped away from you for who knows how long. Cheating is bad too, but you'll end up getting over it after a few weeks, depending on how strong that love was. Getting raped mean having to live with that for the rest of your life, living with the fact that you couldn't do anything to defend y......   reply

It honestly confuses me that this can even be asked, and that people legit thinks cheating is worst. I know there are different norms and standards in manga and real life, but DAMN there should be no comparison here! Of course in real life rape is unacceptable but in mangas like yaoi characters get raped alot but in the end they end up going out with eachother so I guess in terms of BL it's ok but it's still not good. Cheating in BL on the other hand IS NEVER OK BECAUSE I JUST CANT TAKE IT WHEN A CHARACTER GOES OFF WITH SOMEONE ELSE EVEN THO THEY WERE PERFECT W......   1 reply

In real life, rape is of course worse, but in the manga world (and quite a few bl novels, mostly Asian) there's just so much of it that you miss out on good stories because of it, since there's more of rape than cheating in bl manga as far as I've seen. Rape is definitely worse, no question about it. Although there are varying degrees of emotion pain you can feel from having a significant other cheat on you, being raped is just so much more worse because not only do you have to deal with the emotional trauma but the physical trauma as well.
