my family and I went to the river this one time and the water was higher than usual and currents were stronger and so I wanted to show off to my little cousin because they couldn't go to the deep end because they are really short and I was tall enough but I was messing around and I almost got washed away by the strong current so yeah I almost drown......   reply

As someone who has a very hard time distinguishing between people's tones in text, I think tone indicators are good for everyone. Because if you say some stupid joke that's offensive and put /j or /s behind it if someone sees it you can avoid unneeded negative interactions with them.
