In a way, I guess? Assuming, but there is quite a handful of readers, not women alone, that have never actually met a gay man in their time of reading yaoi. I was one of those until I met my gay neighbor, and was shocked to know that his boyfriend and him are nothing like yaoi fiction. Yaoi is quite fantasy fueled and tends to be overly romanticiz......   reply

Fuck that. Even if it is true, are people not allowed to enjoy and fetishize whatever they want? As long as you use discretion and respect appropriately. Do not be ashamed about what you like or what you find sexy and attractive. On the opposite side of the spectrum, all women who read yaoi and BL stories do not share the same thoughts and opinions......   1 reply

*sorry this is going to be looooong* "Yaoi" itself implies a certain sexual content. Some yaoi do have plot development - in this case, i see them as your average romance manga (with explicit scenes), but m/m. However, if we're talking abt a pwp yaoi (meaning they have no plot at all) then i must say it's pretty obvious why ppl would find it hardc......   1 reply

As an ultra queer person, I guess I got tired of seeing the typical tropes of straight romance ? I do appreciate whenever shounen/shoujo ai show the struggles of not being straight, or the even rarer struggles of being genderqueer. I am very aware about the difference between 2D and 3D though, to the point where my preferences between characters......   reply

Seeing straight couples who I cant relate to e v e r y w h e r e stresses me out so damn much, I want to see myself in their shoes but I cant because Im a boy who likes other boys, but when it comes to fujoshis, who are woman that like yaoi, I guess it depen......   reply

Well I'm not a fujoshi but i sort of used to be one. Fujoshis are people who don't think there is a difference between fiction and reality. They think that all relationships that aren't between a man and a man are weird and boring. I mean I prefer to read yaoi other than straight stuff but still I'm not blind to other couples. A fujoshi is also a ......   reply

I don't really know about other people but for me I read them because majority of Shojo heroines getting annoying and I can't help but drop those so I read Yoai as the replacement of Shojos ,,,   2 reply

I love yaoi but for me real life couples are all the same, no matter the gender, so no I don't fetishize real gay men. But I know a lot of people that does and I think that sort of behavior is disgusting and highly disrespectful.   reply

I came from a semi conservative family, and when I first found yaoi it just opened doors I never knew were there. Like people could love people of the same sex, and I was confused as I had only known or heard but never really payed attention to it until I read my first yaoi. After that I realized this was a small childish way of rebelling in my fam......   reply

Ah, I've seen some people like that. I joined a yaoi group recently and noticed that some members like to post pictures of hot guys/gay couples being all "omg what uke material" "who do u think is the uke/seme" and I just wonder what does that have to do with yaoi??? I came here to talk about manga lol wtf I dont think reading yaoi fetishizes gay ......   reply
