I love yaoi but for me real life couples are all the same, no matter the gender, so no I don't fetishize real gay men. But I know a lot of people that does and I think that sort of behavior is disgusting and highly disrespectful.   reply

I came from a semi conservative family, and when I first found yaoi it just opened doors I never knew were there. Like people could love people of the same sex, and I was confused as I had only known or heard but never really payed attention to it until I read my first yaoi. After that I realized this was a small childish way of rebelling in my fam......   reply

Ah, I've seen some people like that. I joined a yaoi group recently and noticed that some members like to post pictures of hot guys/gay couples being all "omg what uke material" "who do u think is the uke/seme" and I just wonder what does that have to do with yaoi??? I came here to talk about manga lol wtf I dont think reading yaoi fetishizes gay ......   reply

That actually depends on the peeps doe, because for me the reason why read yaoi is because...I got tired of the typical shoujo's the girl and boy meet for the first time and under some kind of stuff they suddenly in love yada yada yada I got pretty tired of it so yaoi opened it's doors for me but at least I know how to draw the line between reality ......   reply

Well in my case it works out bc I don't like girls in general, neither in shoujo nor in real life (in most cases) I just never understand why the guy would fall for the girl and even if the girl has a strong personality, then again I don't think girls look good at all.... So two boys that I like liking each other? Fuking YEES. And btw I don't like ......   reply

Well, that's not always the case. I am aware that some (if not, most) of yaoi mangas portray unrealistic interaction between men that sometimes borderline female interaction. And I enjoy yaoi mainly because I've grown not to like most girls/women in shoujo mangas (no offense), and simply because some BL stories are just fascinating. It really depen......   reply

I became a fujoshi after I saw the term "yaoi" in a ad so I looked it up. I then thought that I should try it. I also decided to try yuri as well. If I hadn't discovered these I wouldn't have discovered my true self. I am now much more accepting of my sexuality because I learned with the help of yaoi and yuri that it was ok. Sure the males in yaoi ......   1 reply

I was reading Blue Sky Complex and I noticed that chapter 16.5 (http://www.mangago.me/read-manga/blue_sky_complex/mh/46397274235ff5a7/Vol3_Ch165/pg-1) was basically about a fujoshi who kept asking herself why her heart pounded whenever she saw two guys being lovey dovey.
Do you have other examples?

Speaking as a bi dude, you have to realize that you do have an obsession with a media that tends to almost always represents us as completely ignorant of consent, hyper-conforming to weird heterosexual gender roles in regards to personality, behavior, and bedroom activity. When that stuff plays into how you see men in real life and start telling gu......   reply
