Okay so there was a lgbt quiz yesterday that spread some MAJOR misinformation about transmedicalism so I’d like to correct it. I don’t want young people going around saying they are transmedicalists without knowing that can hurt/exclude people & without understanding the actual meaning.

And I want to preface this by saying I have no problems with the quiz or the maker of it. This isn’t a callout post. I’m just trying to correct the misinformation.

If you don’t already know: “Transmedicalism is broadly defined as the belief that being transgender is contingent upon experiencing gender dysphoria or undergoing medical treatment in transitioning. Transmedicalists, sometimes referred to as truscum by others or by themselves, believe that individuals who identify as transgender but who do not experience gender dysphoria or do not desire to undergo a medical transition—through methods such as sex reassignment surgery or hormone replacement therapy—are not genuinely transgender.”

It’s a pretty hateful idea that invalidates a lot of identities (Some non-binary people & people who don’t want to get/ can’t afford surgery). It’s spread a lot by people like Blair White. If you go around telling people that you are “transmedicalist”, a lot trans people will think you are transphobic (which you are if you support transmedicalism). (If you want to fact check my definition of transmedicalism, feel free to google and read up on the term)

Again this isn’t a callout post. Please don’t attack the person who spread the misinformation.

I did better than i thought Your Score: 12/20 Not bad. Your score places you around the average at reading expressions. And research suggests that people can improve their emotion recognition skills with practice. So keep an eye out for our forthcoming empathy training tool, designed to boost your emotional intelligence.   reply

15/20 i can't screenshot because I am incognito but yeah this felt more like a quiz than trying to read people, I'd say when it comes to irl interactions i am as dense as a freaking ball of metal and the friend that can't really tell when you feel bad unless to say so or act very different   reply
