I saw two different therapist to help me deal with my social anxiety/low self esteem.. but it didn’t really do anything lol. Sometimes I think about going back but I just know it will be useless since i am too self aware about my own situation (dunno how to explain that) and I never really talked with the therapist (they always had to ask questi......   reply

I’m in therapy. I like it. It’s hard sometimes, but I’m comfortable enough with my therapist to tell her no for some things. I think some people who don’t like therapy have unrealistic expectations of what it does. Example: A depressive episode can last 2 weeks to a year. Therapy shortens that to a week to 3 months. Experienced it a few times, and nah it wasn't helpful for me, talking to a therapist made me realize I can heal by myself without their help at all. Like the same way how a teacher can help you learn a subject faster but at the end of the day you can still learn that subject yourself without the help of a teacher.   1 reply

In that time I really specifically needed......   2 reply

yes. it's actually the only reason I'm alive. so there are a couple aspects to this. 1) you have to find the modality that works for you (CBT, DBT, EMDR, etc) 2) if you don't find a therapist that you trust or works with you in a way that challenges you. FIND ANOTHER THERAPIST! (I tried 7 different therapists before I found one that worked for me)......   reply

No matter what anyone says, you're not obliged to even give a reason if you fire them, any therapist who doesn't get that, is not worth your time, and you should f......   1 reply
