Nah, completely agree with you. I used to be able to read yaoi and shoujo all the time and when I was younger I could ignore the rape tropes and random ass misunderstanding and just pass them off as a way to make the plot more juicy but now I just get the ick. Its a horrible excuse for bad writing, sexual violence and abuse isnt needed to create a dramatic bad to good guy story (i hate the 'he will change for you' narrative in general).
