: I got to chapter 16 but I'm going to leave it here. I've read stories with similar concepts that are just done so much better.
If you want a story about a handsome, arrogant man and a woman struggling to survive both falling in love, the better version is "I became the emperor's secretary". The art is gorgeous, it's a delicious slow burn, you get to see side characters getting together. Over all, it's just better done. Reasons it's similar: she only meets with him in order to protect her family. Reasons is better: the romance isn't forced. They don't start in a marriage or fake dating. Romance isn't even the goal of either of them, initially. Their relationship only turns romantic after there's been a build up of trust over years spent together. It feels more believable when you get the pay off because they worked up to it.
If you want a sociopath who finds everything boring slowly learning to fall in love, "Jishou Akuyaku Reijou na Konyakusha no Kansatsu Kiroku" is a better version of that too. Him being constantly bored is an actual plot point and you get to see from both the ML and FL perspectives. Again, much better plot, the FL is very upfront and not at all timid but you slowly learn her motivations as time goes by. Reasons it's similar: the ML is completely bored by the world. He's written as a legitimate sociopath. He has zero interest in anything. Even his interest in the FL is passing at first. By the end of it, he admits to himself that he probably would have zero emotional reaction to anyone else dying, EXCEPT the FL, but even that took time. Reasons it's better: you get to see the perspective of both characters. It mostly follows the ML perspective, though, which is refreshing. It also shows an alternative, "what if" scenario at one point, showing how his choices might have led to different outcomes.
