: Some of you either only look at the pretty pictures or just skim the story and it shows. Lariette (FL) ran away cause she fell in love with Asrahan (ML) because she was terminally ill and didn't want to make the one person she loves the most SEE HER EXPLODING infront of him or finding her mangled corpse after returning from war. She would have died the same way her brother died which made her mother loose her mind - that's how gruesome it was. That's why she wanted to spare him the pain of seeing that and made herself the villain.
I also hate that people say she was oblivious towards Doha - she was literally confined in her house and Doha was her first friend ever. He lied to her about who he was, also ommited the truth of healing her, he immediately had known what was ailing her, healed her but didn't tell her anything. She only saw him as a person who extended her life just a little bit and helped her not have any symptoms of an awfully painful disease. Obviously she would've trusted him immensely. She doesn't know as much as us - the readers.
She's extremely smart and I really like that's she's bold And not just a damsel in distress.
She's a really good well rounded character with flaws, who made a mistake but tries her hardest to fix it.
