: I don't even fully blame Byul- his dad took him to meet her when he was a kid and told him to keep it from mom. He only heard a pieces of story from an unreliable sources (asshole dad's minion who facilitated and paid for whole ditching/aborting baby by Hyesung and clearly is dick enough to randomly bring it up as a gotcha and likely grandma) when he was to young to parse is for what it was - abuse towards Hyesung. I'm betting Hyesung never really truly had a real and deep talk with him about his (traumatised) POV, because let's be honest, parents rarely trauma dump on children unless the kids ask in their 40ties. He's also almost an adult, but clearly still rather spoiled and not really grown up who not only internalised the feeling of being unwanted by mom, seeing his 100% wanted baby sister being born and compared too much to famous dad. Was he a dick? Sure, but kinda understandable 17 year old dick. A good slap to his face would redeem him, he already feels bad for making his mom feel bad, even if his rather not emphatic toward Hyesung.
But Dojin? Holly hell dude, you know what you did.
I've been thinking that it's kinda OK to fund grandma just so when she does die, Hyesung doesn't spiral into depression because her homeless body was found in a ditch next to a road and as a next of kin he has to go and organise her funeral.
But let's not forget why exactly she needs funding. Her new family ditched her when it all came out. Instead of geting to work, she leeched onto her son in law. Her new husband had more sense than her son in law. Let that sink in.
Dojin took every single wrong turn. Let's fund grandma? Cool, but let your husband know and why you're doing it and let him decide about the level of help he's comfortable with. Keeping in touch with her? He literally has staff, it wouldn't even register if one of them had to take care of few bill for water and order maintenance when dishwater broke. Taking your kid to see her , making him think it's ok to keep a secret from the other parent and undermining trust between Hyesung and Byul? Fuck you, you silver spoon fed nepo baby.
It's clear that Dojin had it too good in life and just doesn't understand what abuse is and that she also abused her son. He also doesn't respect Hyesul enough to trust him in making delicious about his own life and family.
I hope season 2 is Byul navigating his parents' divorce.
