: Consequences are consequences. FL helped someone who opposed the system, of course there would be backlash. Regardless of the intention, it was deemed bad at that time. If we were to judge through morality, it’s only right for her to help someone but in the eyes of the law, it’s wrong since she helped someone who literally opposes the government and actively stirs up chaos. The law was not perfect but it was absolute power at that time, moreover she knew that she would get in trouble if she got caught. It’s why she threw the gun away in the first place - because she didn’t wanna risk getting caught.
What she should’ve done back then was tell Ian of the situation before it escalated to this. I get that she didn’t want to rely on anyone or that she wanted to keep her promise to Isabel, but she should’ve atleast known that this is politics. Ian would have more knowledge as to how to better handle the situation given that he has dealt with political problems more than FL.
Just like most people said, it’s literally in her character to confess. Ian knew that as well, that’s why he was nervous. It’s almost as if she didn’t just say how unfair it was for a commoner to be tortured and for her to just be imprisoned because of the simple fact that she is a noble.
