I have read the novel, Liqing will forgive him eventually but would refuse to marry him. Like relationship which Liqing does not commit a lifetime partnership. So for the new readers, you can read the parents' story but don't bother reading their stupid son's story. It'll leave a bitter taste on you even after it ends, that's how I felt when finishing the novel.
