That Time I Got Reincarnated in a BL
Finsihed. It was alright, but I'm a bit disappointed. Shouldn't have put my expectations too high, lmao. Takami reminds me of that one person fr. YCBC. Not a fan of sidelining the ML and how their ending wrapped up so sweetly. I did like how he resolved the troubles he had with his sexuality through the character he reincarnated into. The ending felt weird. On Chapter 3. Overall, it was fine. I appreciated the look into Jin's psyche. --- besotted simp gay BL mangaka-turned-love-rival x promiscuous slutty love interest (with attachment issues) I'm liking it. It falls into a cliche, but it doesn't feel like one. - Their reasoning as to why Jin created Takami was interesting. Not just because he's his type, but also he's the opposite of him, in a way. His promiscuity and open sexuality reflects off of the author's depraved nature as a closeted gay man. A bit of psychology which idk will actually go anywhere beyond that, but it was interesting. - idk. shouldn't write too much. - Like the cover. Reminds me a bit of the Falsettos cover. - Ah, now I know. He reminds me a bit of Piet in that way. Also falls into that trope (even more so with the attachment issues). Tanaka reminds me of the VTuber Goldbullet. Similar sense of goofy, chaotic energy and share general vibes. Takami reminds me a bit of a few characters who share an adjacent archetype, namely Jin Kikuchihara from Yoiyoi Monologue (and perhaps Shirayuki from Koisuru Psycho no Shirayuki-kun, too?). Bad summary below. MC Tetsuo Tanaka was a BL mangaka, a dude who's just living life, publishing stuff. He basically tried to go for shonen publishing before eventually settling into BL. Having just submitted the last chapter of a manga to his editor, he rides a train and dies upon encountering a terrorist, who hijacks the train. There, he reincarnates into the BL Manga he created. The slutty bottom character with attachment issues (his ideal type)? He's there! The Gary Stu top character who showers him with love? He's there, too! Then what character does he become? A rival, Tetsushi who's known for being a player. His boner gets the best of him, and so he's determined to get together with Takami, no matter how the manga tries to push Takami with the male lead...
Dasadanan
Adorable. Appreciated the femslash pair
Mr. A and Mr. B
Adorable. Characters are lovable. Remembered tearing up for the second male lead, haha.
8nin no Senshi
Concept: There's an isolated island civilization consisting of several tribes; every few years, a representative from each tribe gets chosen to duel it out with their dicks, and whoever reigns supreme becomes king(?). Thoughts: Conceptually, it's ridiculous; In execution, it's FUN. It's campy, yes, but the character dynamics are hooks you in. Interesting relationship drama and surprisingly sweet character pairings. Fun read. Don't take it too seriously.
S to N
‘Straight Guy’ trope played just how I like it. Great, ML’s like a sticky child. Annoying, but he grew on me, which I suppose was the point. Only thing I can note is that the cross dresser dude threw me off. A bit too ridiculous to my liking (personality) but it was the last chapter, I can let it pass. Especially with that ending, damn. Really felt those emotions there. Certainly anime silly at times, but I enjoyed it.
Maison De Maid
Ah, my first GL manhwa. Glad I read this one, because it was really sweet. Unfortunate that the ending was abrupt, but it was still really cute
My Four Masters
Read this a while ago, but wanted to write thoughts on it while I'm at it. REALLY good art, I kept reading because of the artstyle in my opinion. The plot itself was eh(?), but it was good enough for you to keep reading. I wasn't interested in the fan service-y parts, but that's just because it's not my thing. I also wasn't interested in the fujoshi character either, but she was cute and relatively harmless. The synopsis is low-key clickbait, because you’re expecting to see a whole four-person harem and this whole conflict between them, when in reality, most of the ”conflict” is between the first two “Master”s. It’s nice to see a 'winner' to the harem. After the main pair get together (where all they do is sex from that point onwards), we have the side pairings. The first one isn’t bad, and honestly, I enjoyed their dynamic more than the main pairing. The second pairing, however, while I also enjoyed their dynamic, it finished too abruptly. After the first side pairing get their happy ending, almost immediately, they get together, even though before we had this whole build up about one of them liking the other for a long time?? Overall, that pairing was abrupt, and I felt really disappointed that it quickly wrapped itself up. Kudos to the artist because everything looked shiny and aesthetically pleasing, but I wish that the pacing was more evenly spread out. It felt like a load of filler during the time the masters introduced themselves, before finally going into actually plot stuff. 3.5/5
Tasuketa Yakuza ni Nerawaretemasu
I quite liked the Yakuza ML. Sweet ending.
Excuse Me Dentist, It's Touching Me!
I had fun. Honestly, have no idea what’s happening, and the humor’s wearing off, but it was nice while I was reading it.
BL in the Dungeon?!
