Yuri Hime Collection*
Moonlight Garden (Kang Unnie)
this is one of the best yuri ive ever read! so much intense, fucked up sex, identity porn, manipulation, paradise resting upon increasingly melting ice... yoosun is the most fascinating character, and i wish the three of them had ended up together rather than shuffling her off at the end. but that is what fanfiction is for, i suppose.
Citrus (saburo Uta)
youre really gonna regret reading this, dont pick it up just cause its popular lmao. like not because the situation is fucked up, but because the characters are shallow, its super rapey for no reason, and it isnt consistent with its own themes.
It Would Be Great If You Didn't Exist!
honestly this could have been a great manhua but the translation made the characters motivations sound nonsensical to the point that i was laughing out loud. just couldnt do it sorry rip
Her ShimCheong
a needlessly depressing outlook on life where all men but children are evil, and all women cant survive among them. some parts touched me, especially the scene of entering the burial place for married women and seeing how homogenous their memorials became. many scary and unpleasant near-death moments occur yet every single time against the odds the characters end up happy. i wanted to like this since its so popular, but i just didnt. the relationship is supposed to be this dark and manipulative thing, but it fell out of that into genuine love very quickly, and i cant say it developed much from there, even as the characters grew and strengthened their resolves. really, they didnt even feel like individuals, despite the fun character designs, just two figures with opposite approaches to life written in by their circumstances. like effort was put in, i have to give some credit. it just really wasnt enough. i would have liked if more time was given to investigating the first ministers wifes relationship with cheongs mother.
What Does The Fox Say?
same-faced and same-bodied perfect women have sex and fall in love. its pretty robotic
Ghosts of Greywoods
it wasnt exactly focused on relationship development, more the plot of eileen attempting to escape and the mystery of her parentage being revealed. which is fine, it just came together too neatly for my tastes. things changed because the people around her finally decided to help, not because of what she did. correspondingly, the most character development here was given to the person whos heart most changed, the head servant katherine. it was nice seeing her sort through her resentment for eileen and gradually work at righting her selfishness in the past. this is grim and full of senseless violence, makes you feel hopeless that it took this long for things to go right, but... true love and beautiful illustrations, right? they mostly drew their own backgrounds, and the symbolism of the characters only being fully coloured during happy times in their lives was great.
Sabishisugite Lesbian Fuzoku Ni Ikimashita Report
this isnt really yuri, its an autobiography that happens to deal with lesbian topics. and seriously if you feel like your life is going nowhere and you struggle with ugly mental illness then this manga will probably change your thinking a bit. its really, really good. i cant wait to read the sequels.
Useless Princesses
its not even the plot or execution of this manga that i have a problem with. i think a lot of people who read this will enjoy it. the romantic development goes at a good pace. but its just not fun for me to see the narrative pushed that every woman wants to be as conventionally attractive for others as possible and if she says she doesnt shes lying to herself.
