Crack Star
Huh this was really cute! I do not appreciate the people slut shaming Mio… It’s not like he did anything wrong? Anyway, this was pretty weird. The MC jerked off in the toilet to the sound of his childhood friend getting dirty like…. Huh. This isn’t a masterpiece by any means, but it’s not the worst. Writing could have used more flesh, but it was cute in the end.
Double Step Father
they’re just too cute!! all families look different. love the childhood friends trope. the leads have known each other for a long time. very fluffy but also very spicy at the right moments. semi-telling of the gay experience and parenting
Konna Koi nara Owari ni Shitai!
this is so funny and cute?! i appreciate uta’s character (his identity as a gay man and such) and i actually find their story so interesting. with their past— and how they’ve basically turned into a married couple lmao. can’t wait for part two! update: okay LOVED THIS! it has this mature vibe to it that blends well with the comedy. despite the frustrating misunderstanding bits, the author pulls through with their showing of internalized homophobia, misogyny etc. above all, i love how this isn’t a cliché. it just hits close to reality. the lead characters, flaws in all, manage find the love they want. loved their domesticity. story telling and art were god tier.
Tokyo in April
It has this mature, almost depressing vibe at the start, but it lightens up near the end. Honestly a great read despite its dramatic clichés. The author has a splendid way of demonstrating changes in character and emotion through their art. Poetically and beautifully, the story is just such a journey. The characters are multifaceted and change over the course of said story, and it just makes for an incredibly immersive manga. Ngl I teared up when he said “You’re my Tokyo in April” LIKE WHAT what an absolute banger of a line. will re-read for sure one day
Kimi He Otodoke
So cute! I wanted more of the first couplemet. They were so funny and cute, and I liked the theme that it's okay to betray someone's expectations. The second couple was meh.
Kunieda-kun ha Kouduki-san no Tokubetsu ninaritai
this is genuinely so good. like other commenters said, this feels like a story written by a queer person or someone who genuinely wants to portray a gay relationship. everything felt realistic and mature. the representation of takaki’s bisexuality and the way yuuichiro talked about sexuality— was SUCH a breath of fresh air. yuuichiro even went as far as to prepare a consent form like?? the communication was S+++ tier. so quirky, and i loved that *sobs* huge respect for this author. wish more manga were like this
Hysteric na Kurokami Megane-kun wa Igai to Kawaii
they’re surprisingly very cute! i like fujie’s straightwordness and honesty and how he goes well with the “playboy” haruki. the author managed to turn a cliché plot into something rather refreshing. i’m a big fan of their communication, and their dynamic is fun! apparently there’s a pseudo-incest couple here but i don’t remember that lmao
Confessions of a 35 Year Old
I appreciated the realism in this. Like the ML is bisexual. The MC grapples with his internalized homophobia and the weight of societal expectations. There was also the showing of workplace bullying as well, which was a nice touch. Romance-wise…. Well, I doubt you can really call this a romance comic in the typical sense. The open ending was nice, but it felt like the author barely skimmed the surface of their relationship. It’s like drawing a shounen protagonist gearing up and training for the big match, only to not show it all. It was a decent story, just not a very memorable or particularly amazing one.
