Literature Boy
7/10 Very realistic, relatable manhwa. You can really connect to the two leads and identify with their struggles. From that standpoint, it’s well written. As a romance, this is pretty lacking. It feels like we’re being told that the leads are romantic, they’re this or that, etc, but I don’t think the author sufficiently expresses their supposed chemistry. Like the leads’ relationship, the story also feels unstable with the constant switching back and forth from the present to the past. It’s not the worst execution I’ve seen. I personally DESPISED the second couple like you will never convince to feed into the teacher x high schooler bull. They were just unneeded. This story gave me mixed emotions and had a bland aftertaste. Ending is also kind of abrupt and offered no resolution to Sunwoo’s major plagiarism conflict. I sound harsh, but it’s ultimately because I think this could’ve been so much more than it is.
Shinigami wa Korosenai
This was actually pretty cute! I like the concept of shinigami having this class/hierarchal system. The romance is cute but also bittersweet. I think the shinigami still loved the MC is in his own way. I just think it’s too short— there was so much potential with the world building! anyway, I actually liked this more than I thought I would.
Takatora-kun to Omegatachi
yk what this is rly interesting. it goes deep into the systemic side of the omegaverse. very good commentary on feminism and patriarchy.
Family, Now and Forever
This was great!! I loved how lowkey and realistic it was. The plot isn’t the most developed, but I think that’s kind of the point. You see the two leads and their child living as a family and going about their day to day lives. I rly like like the idea that they are “meant for each other,” that they are each other’s home, and are full of love. anyway, sobbing
Broken-Hearted One-Night Love ~This Man Is Cunning and Sweet~
Honestly, this is pretty cute! I like the idea of a love that isn’t destined but one that kind of just happens naturally on its own. Mid though. It would’ve been cool if the leads’ backstories had been fleshed out more instead of all the smut. The ending isn’t very satisfying, but it does stick to the natural, slice of life feel that this manga has.
A Rom-Com Fantasy With My Idol Is Out of the Question!
Lmao this is so funny. “I ship us”?? This feels like the plot of a Wattpad fanfiction. Love the supportive friends 5
Kirakira Shite mo, Shinakute mo
I love this! It’s so refreshing how this manga shows the other side of being gay, where the characters aren’t super handsome ikemen—liking someone and having things not end up like a picture perfect fairy tale. maybe a love goes unfulfilled. ACK but i just thoroughly appreciate how realistic this is. it explores a different side of BL that definitely should be expressed more often imo
Aki wa Haru to Gohan wo Tabetai
Love, love the food elements! Also love the themes of youth and how their love is portrayed… Feels very natural, and I love how they can feel so at ease with one another. The domesticity is insane, and reading this definitely gives me feet-kicking-in-the-air moments 29
Night of London
41 this is mpreg… BUT ANYWAY, this is very interesting. a “snow” werewolf who hunted the ML’s parents and a vampire ML. the ML is obsessive, but i highkey dig it
