The Borderlands being the place where souls physically go during near-death experiences was not a very surprising plot-twist, but the story in the complex was good af. It studied the human psychology, human instincts of survival and protectiveness towards other human being or towards themselves, it studies their journey of growth and in the end the survivors are all brighter like new people who don’t care about their past anymore. I don’t really care about Arisu and Usagi. I’m so freaking sad that all the survivors don’t remember each other and the impact they had in each others’ lives, especially Doudou, Agni and the legless girl, I wanted to see them becoming a family
Hold Me Safe/Holding room
If it wasn’t for some inconsistencies in the whole thriller part of the plot, I probably would’ve rated this manhwa higher, since the dynamics between the two MCs were just SO GOOD AND AMUSING. Kang Heon and Duwon the reporter were obviously just devices to mislead us, since whenever the barman appeared he had this very creepy aura around him that made his culpability pretty obvious. Even the MCs suspected him a couple of times but ignored their right assumptions thinking they were only being paranoid. Moreover I was expecting some surprising plot twist regarding the reason that had led the culprit to the whole stalking, threading and kidnapping matter but he ended up saying he had done all that “just because”, which gave the character and all the plot created around him too much inconsistency. I also would’ve liked to read more about Kang Heon and Duwon (I would have welcomed with my arms open the development of a love story between them...). The MCs characterisation kinda filled up for the rest: Taekyung is the the speciman of the perfect boyfriend (protective, confident, decisive, HOT!!!), while Jaehwa is the one of the most relatable, salty and badass uke I’ve read about so far. At first I thought he would have been the slutty kind of uke but he ended up being everything but that!! His tsundere personality won my heart over in a minute, and can we please talk about drunk Jaehwa? Or when he’s teased by Taekyung? So cute
Unholy Night
There are theories in the comments saying that the blonde guy was probably a substitute for the younger brother and I think it kinda makes sense, but I’m not sure about the blonde guy being aware of it or not. He likely chased the uke away because of jealousy, but this jealous might have been caused by both awareness of being his substitute or annoyance due to the important presence of the uke in the seme’s life at that time. I’m pretty certain that the seme had developed deep feelings for the uke in the past, but what makes this story so interesting is that the seme’s feelings are closer to an obsessive brotherly attachment that eventually developed into an equally obsessive romantic and sexual love than actual healthy romantic love. In fact an important difference exists between loving someone and not being able to live without them. I wish it was longer,
