Well... He was one hell of a drama queen. He reminded me of some of my acquaintances in college when we took a course in literature of the romantic era. After reading Goethe's "Sorrows of Young Werther" and Byron's "Manfred," several of these 18 year old students went around positively dripping with angst. Luckily, they got over it. Here we have a supposed mature adult doing the same thing. Yes, losing a wife and child is always a horrible thing, but he also has the god-awful trope of having to get laid with women he is "irresistibly attracted to" so he can "get over them." All this stuff about tragedy turning men into terminal horndogs is freaking ridiculous. It's also as romantic as a week-old Egg McMuffin.
