Loved her, but ML was pretty much of a dope. He came from a family defined by love, trust, and mutual support. His big tragedy was that he was deceived by a sociopathic con artist and left with their son, whom he loved and was easily able to take care of financially. Yet, he let his "horrible tragedy" color his life and judgement (already proved to be suspect). She, however, was abandoned by every member of her family and grew up being looked down upon by association with them. She is naturally more than leery about letting people get close or letting herself care for others due to the abandonment and ill-usage received in her family and upbringing. At the same time, she has made a complete success of her life, ENTIRELY due to her own hard work and with no help. If her colleague is to be believed, she is respected and trusted by everyone who works for her. The Missing Linc, however, is instantly judgmental about her, and believed anything the sociopath had told him. Almost until the very end, he believes that her emotional distancing is cold-hearted, and that she's just like the sociopath. He's unable to see anything from her perspective and immediately dismisses her actions as "she's just selfish," when in reality he's judging everything about her from how it affects him. Empathy is not high on this bozo's list of character traits.

Loved her and the ML's father. The rest can fall over and turn blue.

I thought it was pretty good. The MCs were decent people and not idiots either. The story was pretty nice as well.

I enjoyed this one. Ms. Gordon can definitely turn out a good one now and then. The characters were believable and their changes for the better weren't the usual Harlequin trope of the complete psychopath turning into St Francis of Assisi.

ML had some problems, but being beaten continuously as a child would give anyone trauma. He didn't allow it to turn him into an utter creep like so many HQ MLs.

Not really bad, but our ML reeeaaalllly needs some sort of medication, in large economy size, no less. Pushy and domineering is a mild way to describe his behavior. Also, any man who can't love a beautiful and kind woman who thinks the world of him and bears his children is an idiot. Anyone who thinks that romantic love is only the "le grande passion" for which people leap off cliffs or "sacrifice the entire world to spare him/her one second pain" are nothing but drama queens (regardless of gender) and most probably narcissists as well.
