Amazing! The FL wasn't a horndog with seduction on his mind 24 and 7. He was certainly heterosexual, but concerned with how she felt, not just with his blue b@$$s, like most Harlequin MLs.

I did like most of the characters in this story, but the idea that being a single, widower father is grounds for maternal grandparents taking away his daughter is ridiculous, especially when he’s respectably employed and wealthy enough to own a private jet. I would have taken out a restraining order. As to the FL’s abusive ex-husband, protecting her from his violent physical assault would have entailed multiple broken bones AND having him arrested.

The story was kind of alright, but the two fathers really stuck in my craw, so to speak. Her father was a weak sap who couldn't be around her because she looked like her mother, his late beloved wife. So he marries a woman who treats his daughter like crap as well as treating her own son (who Daddy Dearest also pays no attention to) the same way. And yet his daughter still loves him and does her best to support him. His father, who was white-washed by everyone, was a psychopathic control freak. He was fine, as long as everyone did exactly what he said. The FL admitted that she was really afraid of him at one point. Everyone seems to know that he was kind to her only because he had the unrequited hots for her mother. Can we say "Sicko?" So everyone enabled him when he was alive, and white-washed him after he died. I'm sorry, but that's not the way I or my family work.

I liked it. I didn't want to kill the ML (maybe slap him a few times early on, though), like I do in half the HQ manga I read. The staff, however, with that "you will act like I tell you to act" attitude would be reduced to tears the first time they tried that crap on me, and not through physical violence.

I liked it. The ML was almost antithetical to Harlequin since, even though he was somewhat pushy, he understood the word no.

Definitely one of the better HQ manga out there!

Old Professor Roofie should have gone to jail; preferably with a cell mate who was in jail for killing someone who attacked his sister.

Not a bad story at all. The characters were decent people for a change.

It took him a while to come around, but he was a pretty decent guy all along. Both of them had trauma from their pasts, but they worked at overcoming it. I don't know if I like the "making nice with the people who traumatized you" trope. There are things that can be forgiven, and also things that are unforgivable. Kicking a trusting and loving child to the curb, for me at least, comes under the latter heading.

I enjoyed it. Plot wasn't bad. ML understands women and girls about as much as I understand superstring theory, but he wasn't a scumbag. At the same time, his attitude of “There’s no better man than me” was ludicrous. Still, It was a good yarn and I enjoyed it.
