The FL's sister and husband had a fight in South America, so he abandoned her in a place where she had to be "rescued" by a macho d*^k wielder. After their "loving reconciliation," she sends a letter to the wielder, telling him she had a baby and demanding money. I don't think that dysfunctional even starts to cover that scenario. If I was the FL, I would consider moving to Gombe to study chimpanzees with Jane Goodall rather than hang out with these two unhinged family members. Then we have the ML: one minute, he's the complete alphahole, breaking into her house, sexually assaulting her, and continually threatening and blackmailing her. The next minute, he's hurt and vulnerable, and would sacrifice himself to make her smile. It's as though he has a testosterone tap somewhere in his body with only two settings, closed and opened wide, with a malicious and unpredictable gremlin opening and closing the valve at random. The FL herself is almost as bipolar as the ML. After they're married, she only starts having sex with him to get over with the whole situation. One minute she's loving and the next she's saying unforgivable things. My take on the whole thing: Sister and bro-in-law should have been sterilized to prevent them from breeding and the FL and ML should have a veritable army of psychiatric professionals to keep them massively medicated and conduct daily therapy sessions.

Uh... Was he an obsessive type personality or what? Another self-made bazillionaire with more baggage than an overcrowded cruise ship.

I liked the FL a lot. The ML, however, gave me a real pain. He’d start acting really decent and and then claim that she was a liar and a gold digger. It’s as though he’s one of those people (and I have personal experience of them) that acts really nice just to draw you in, so they can kick you to the curb. It’s a control and manipulation mechanism, similar to gaslighting. The beloved little brother is a different kettle of rotten fish. He wants to make his beloved sister happy as she fought and sacrificed since she was a young teenager to raise him and keep him out of child services. So he hangs out with slimebags and gambles every penny he gets his hands on (all for her sake???). He saddles her with a huge debt she nearly works herself to death trying to repay and never communicates with her. Sorry to be such an intolerant and judgmental jerk, but "loving" little bro is a total POS.

What a selection of total creeps. ML is all lovey dovey at the end, but he did rape her on the boat. I'm sure he'd deny it, but that type ("she knows she wants it") always does deny it. Poor sap also can't decide if he loves her or hates her. A life with him would be hell for any woman with more ambition than to be a blow up sex doll.
