If a western writer wants to write about another culture in a novel, learn about it before you either fetishize or demonize that culture. To write judgmentally and ignorantly at the same time shows, not just that ignorance, but also somewhat bigoted prejudice. To someone from that culture or someone familiar with the culture, reactions to the writing can range from hilarity to derision to being mortally insulted.

Sorry to be so negative, but the story was put together like patchwork. The closest I could figure out about their emotions was that they were both horny.
