Tonari no Usotsuki (Suzaka Shina)
Aww, this was really sweet! I really liked the story and the characters, everything felt a little more genuine and real than what I normally see in BL. Maybe it's because it was based on a novel first.
Kimi ni Koisuru Hazu ga Nai
The earlier chapters are the funniest with Kitaoji and Chikage accidentally one-upping each other as male leads in a shoujo.
Kazoku Ni Narouyo
REREAD I KNOW I read this before.
Sick
Cute but didn't start out that way. Seme was legit bullying his classmate and it's never addressed. Like that uke is proactive and gains confidence in himself, but otherwise average story.
Ikumen After
Huh! That ended up being unexpectedly wholesome. <3 I'm glad the drama and story development focused on permanent changes to their lives, like moving in together (and not getting a chance to move out) and Kentaro's genuine passion for acting. It was really nice that his agency and even the guy who was an acting rival (for like, one chapter, lol) were all on his side. And on Asakura's side, his coworkers were equally accepting and supportive. Again, that was really, really nice! I think the only reason it's only 4/5 is just the lack of JNSQ that would tip it over the edge. But all in all, very satisfying.
Ki ga Au to Iu Koto wa
I actually liked the ghost story! The fact that the guy who lent his body to the dead lover was so pissednl off when he realized they'd had sex using him, that was the correct response. Obviously it all worked out in the end, but it was handled decently. As for the other story, I wish Shiraishi had a littttttle more awareness. There's a limit to going with the flow, and if he's fine having sex with his friend multiple times, dude, I think you might have Feelings. But that works out in the end too. All in all, these are sweet! I'll read the spinoff of the second story too.
Yachin Hanbun No Ibasho Desu
I'm pretttty sure I read these before. Standard fare, nothing groundbreaking. The recurring theme seems to be 'not forgiving a cheating lover', except the last one is the opposite lol. Not as bad as the comments make it seem. Technically a shared setting with another manga, but there's no crossover content. Oh yeah and the artist has a crippling case of same face lol. Nearly every couple is an expressionless black haired seme and a light haired uke.
Tie Me, Unravel Me, Kiss Me
Yakuza shenanigans with stabbing and an almost-love triangle and STILL a happy ending? We love to see it! Four stars, easy.
Heart no Kagi o Te ni Irero!
4 stars for the adorable and organic romance, 3 stars for bringing it back down in the end with a cringey sex-between-men epilogue chapter. Surprisingly mature confessions scene, and even if it was ultimately in service to comedy, Shiga's "I like kissing" line was
Dekiai Nante Mitomemasen!
