Kazoku Ni Narouyo
REREAD I KNOW I read this before.
Ikumen After
Huh! That ended up being unexpectedly wholesome. <3 I'm glad the drama and story development focused on permanent changes to their lives, like moving in together (and not getting a chance to move out) and Kentaro's genuine passion for acting. It was really nice that his agency and even the guy who was an acting rival (for like, one chapter, lol) were all on his side. And on Asakura's side, his coworkers were equally accepting and supportive. Again, that was really, really nice! I think the only reason it's only 4/5 is just the lack of JNSQ that would tip it over the edge. But all in all, very satisfying.
He Is Beautiful
It's cute and sweet and doesn't have any gay panic! I just wish the art wasn't so stiff. It's looser and fits better when scenes have a comedic tone, but the serious and romantic scenes all pretty much feel the same, and have an awkward posed look.
Heart no Kagi o Te ni Irero!
4 stars for the adorable and organic romance, 3 stars for bringing it back down in the end with a cringey sex-between-men epilogue chapter. Surprisingly mature confessions scene, and even if it was ultimately in service to comedy, Shiga's "I like kissing" line was
Yoake no Joshou
This was very VERY wholesome even with the smutty undercurrent. Unexpectedly had a very grounded perspective on the characters' lives and interactions, and the romance felt like it was given time to breathe even in their few chapters in a shared setting. Favorited!
I Wanna Die Before I'm 30
What a completely bonkers story. 5* for being incredibly unique and an equal triangle poly HEA. The way Ai falls in love with Ryo after seeing his true personality is especially sweet.
Beast of Blood
Technically omegaverse in most respects, plus other supernatural like sirens and vamps. Lots of interesting worldbuilding! Lots of gender and sexual fluidity!
I Fell in Love With a Man - BL Anthology
Wonder Border
I like this story because it doesn't lean into showing the bf too much. He's the victim in the story, but it's not about him, so over-emphasizing that angle would dampen the satisfaction of seeing two people who clearly still love each other get back together. Also, the bf gets his own story! Which helps quite a lot.
