The Two Lions
Cute! Almost no actual romance content, mostly focused on becoming friends and then catching feelings. No gay panic! A little lacking in resolution.
Family, Now and Forever
Exceedingly beautiful art and fluffy slice of life scenes. A little thin on story, but excellent snapshots of their family life.
Shinyuu no
A cute little friends to lovers plot, plus mutual pining/unrequited love. Not as peak as my absolute favorite one of these, but in the same vein, and with a similar confession (though less dramatic).
Wait in Bed Tonight
This was an EXTREMELY delicate size difference BL, but I think they pulled it off much better than I expected. Accepting that there are, undeniably, shota/lolicons that will get off to this sort of thing for the "wrong" reasons, the reality is that there are people IRL who get mistaken for being much younger than they are. At least in this case the characters are the same age, and their behavior and personalities are shockingly and refreshingly realistic. Also!! They're an established couple that had never faced societal rejection. Everyone around them from friends to family has been accepting AND supportive from the beginning. Truly amazing. I'm actually bumping this to 5 stars instead of 4 just for that. Inspirational good vibes. Lastly, to find a big dick trope AND friends recognizing that's a sexual barrier not a bonus AND realistic portrayal of the bottom needing significant preparation ANNNNND the top is enthusiastically involved?? Honestly I'm not sure what else this could de besides not be what it is. Sure the bottom could be less of a baby face, but they are and that's just the way it is for this story.
Hotaru wa Ashita Shinu
Interesting and unusual! Nimiya going so far as to impersonate the fictional Hotaru for the sake of his crush was an interesting scenario, and his childhood friend was intentionally trying to get between them by outright lying or doing thing easy for Asada (and the reader) to misunderstand, because if his own unrequited crush. Not quite a favorite, but very good. (and sex positive! Though the "not gay, it's just him" note in the afterword is annoying.) If there's a spinoff for Oono, I'd read it! Another friend clearly has a crush in him.
Hotaru wa Ashita Shinu DJ - Enough
Aaaaand the spinoff! Mikami and Oono are together in this one, which is awesome. And there's a hint of drama (angst) in the brief glimpses that Asada's parents don't accept their relationship. Nimiya has tried to win them over, but they reject him (and Asada) completely. It's even mentioned that Asada lived with Nimiya's family for a while, and that probably explains why he gets along with Nimiya's mother so well. It's so incredibly grounded and realistic, including the sex (preparation and safety are very important). While the main story was just average for vibes, this oneshot is five stars easily!
Bokura ga Koi wo Ushinau Riyuu
Wow, comment weren't wrong. This is SWEET. two people with unrequited love find friendship and love with each other. I wish there was more! But the last chapter being a time skip was nice, since there's a glimpse of their future.
Kimiiro Eden
Hmm... Even though this has some unique aspects (seme has gay parents, uke knew he was gay and tried to ignore it but doesn't deny it to himself) it's largely just *okay*. I could see 3.5 on the basis of the story being sensitive and mature.
