Nii-chan (harada)
This is really messed up. Needless to say, i skipped *those* parts. However, despite the insanely disgusting events happening in this story, I would say it's a well-written story. Not necessarily very realistic, but all the characters are well-built, their actions have reasons, more or less rational. The pedophile was also a victim of someone like him when he was young. It really underlines the 'the victim often becomes an abuser' trope which is an actual reality, and a very sad one at that.
Shibou to Iu Na no Fuku o Kite
TW: eating disorders, numbers In my opinion, this manga showed a very realistic portrayal of eating disorders, specifically bulimia. It shows how losing weight doesn't make one happier, especially when done by unhealthy means, such as making yourself throw up. To be honest, I started reading it because I myself am dealing with and ED which started when was really young, 12 or 13. It started off because I was constantly bullied for my weight, even if I wasn't that overweight. I've lost 10 kgs/22 lbs in a year only by restricting, to the point where I was eating even only 700 kcals a day, for weeks. My family started to worry but I didn't care, I wanted to lose even more. What people don't know is, once you start, you cannot stop, you become obsessed with the number on scale decreasing. It was always "just one more kilogram", it's almost an addiction. Now I am 17, and it only got worse. I don't even know why I'm writing this here, it's not like anyone will read it. At least I got it out of my system, since I don't have anyone I can talk to about this comfortably.
