Are You Enemy?

Complete | Miyamoto Kano | 2001 released

I'm finally getting around to re-reading/fully reading all of Miyamoto Kano's work, but I'm pretty confused by some of the order here. This particular manga was oddly ordered on the site. I'm hoping I didn't miss anything. Maybe I should just find the DL to be sure. Anyway, this is her early work, so it didn't have some of the same emotional impact that I can usually find in her work. Still, it's a nice start, and I love how she has stories that span over multiple characters, etc. Not Love up next...

Atokata

Complete | kiyuhiko | 2015 released

It's a little too rushed and clunky to be as sad as it could be, but it was okay. I like the artist, and the ending was better as it was, letting the reader fill in the rest. Three stars is fitting, I think.

Katamuku Karada

Complete | OKUDA Waku | 2000 released

Creepy, but it seems to be aware of it? I dunno. Interesting, regardless. Too bad it was so short. I feel like that could have been explored more. Definitely got a Stockholm syndrome vibe.

Utsukushii Karada

Complete | kashima kotaru | 2019 released

Mixed feelings, but I'm really intrigued. I like this one more than the other one by her that I've started reading. I'm curious as to how this will unfold. It isn't exactly shocking or surprising, but I still find it interesting enough to wonder what direction it'll take. Such pretty boys. Also, he totally saved that other boy from getting raped, but they aren't talking about that. Does that mean he didn't give a crap? Rude. EDIT: Okay, chapter four was kind of... odd. The uke took this crap up a notch. Is he some kind of weird virgin? I just assumed he had a sexual relationship with his sensei, but I guess it's more like he's just a possession. It creeped me out a lot when he started acting like a child throwing a tantrum, though. It just really reinforced the concept that this guy is mentally eight years old. He's naive and awkward, and being beautiful doesn't really make up for how much that gets to me. At any rate, did he scratch the tattoo? That's a lot of blood, if that's all it was. Though to be fair, I've never had a back tattoo, so maybe the skin was already just very overextended and thin.

Chou to Kumo no Su

Complete | Akabeko | 2000 released

I love this mangaka, though this wasn't my favorite by her. Still, it was dark, sad, interesting, and complicated, like a lot of her stuff. I haven't read the manga it's the prequel to yet, though, so I wonder if I should have read that first. Poor baby, either way. I even feel sorry for the uncle, because he lost his mind. He wasn't like that from the start. I do have to ask, though, why did people tag this as incest? Am I missing something, or were there just that many people confused by the fact that he calls him uncle? He was dating his mother. They aren't related in any way, biological or otherwise.
