otakulys's manga / #suicide(47)

Ai no donā

Complete | Avogado6 | 2019 released

Very short, but it definitely hurts for a moment. The feeling of losing happiness is so awful. Ignorance would be so much better. You long for these good feelings, but everything ends.

Koukai no Naraku

Ongoing | Oshikiri Rensuke | 2000 released

Pretty fucked up. At least I got to brush up on my Spanish, before I realized there was an English version after the Spanish version. Anyway, the idea is suicide results in eternal suffering. Pretty cruel concept, but a lot of people believe there's some sort of punishment for it.

The Mermaid and...

Complete | Kuze gaku | 2019 released

Ugh, the art is beautiful. I wish it weren't het. Also, it says TBC, but then it also says it's a oneshot, so I don't know what to believe here. If that's an entire story, it was... odd and pointless. It's a crime that this author doesn't draw m/m, though. Her characters are gorgeous.

Intense(Lee Kyung Ha)

Complete | Lee Kyung Ha,Kyungha Yi | 2000 released

I like it so far! Only one chapter, so we'll see, but I have my fingers crossed for a really good story. And one that doesn't end in tragedy, because I catch hints of that in this sort of thing.

Failure

Ongoing | Dhean de nauli | 2019 released

Lol, what? I feel like this was trying too hard to be edgy. I don't hate it, but... I don't know, it just seemed rather heavy handed. Someone in the comments said "Why didn't he just start with himself," which made me laugh, so I'll give it three stars for leading me to that.

Dekinai-ko

Complete | avogado6 | 2000 released

...Lol. I felt bad for the boy and was bummed because I knew it wouldn't ever get happy for him, but that ending was kind of funny. Shitty mom, though. She needs to get hit by a bus.

Voice

Complete | Tsurita Kuniko | 2000 released

That was... very odd. I guess it's open to interpretation, though I'm not really sure what the second chapter was meant to inspire. I mean, obviously there had been that longing from the time he was a child, but I don't really understand what it was meant to symbolize for him to go back later. I don't know, the first one certainly could be an allegory for suicide. Especially criticizing the person who's in the bed, kind of reflecting someone falling apart and falling into despair. There's more to read into, I guess, but it didn't grip me enough to make me want to extend the effort.

Shiawase wo Anata ni

Complete | avogado6 | 2000 released

Ugggghhh, I'm sobbing. My head hurts and my eyes and nose are all puffy. This made me cry so hard. That poor baby. I knew it was going to go in that direction, but it still hurt. What a sweet boy, though. I hope they both get good lives next time. I don't know why I'm torturing myself right now, but it's like I can't stop reading these things.

Sekai No Owari Ga Furu Yoru Ni...

Complete | Gokurakuin Sakurako | 1996 released

Weird, but not as bad as I thought it would be based on some of the earlier elements. Sometimes I love this mangaka's art, and sometimes it's kinda meh. This one shifts back and forth, but it's kind of on the meh side. The plot could have been better. The ending is kind of weird and ambiguous. But at least they tried to include some intrigue. If it had been polished, I would have liked it more, but I'll give it a 3.5 for effort.

Crow's Library of Danmei

Ongoing | Crow | 2016 released

It's a shame that it's only three chapters and looks to have been dropped. Hopefully someone else picks it up someday. It's an interesting concept, though stressful since it's hard to say how it'll end. I hope it isn't some sort of punishment for the uke. That would be pretty fucked up.
