Chou to Hana no Kankeisei
So, now that I've read all she has available on the site so far, I think my assessment is that I prefer her more emotional, complicated stuff to her smut. She has very specific fetishes that repeat throughout her stories, and that always kind of weirds me out with authors. Regardless, I love her, her art style, and her approach to most of her plots. She does seem to have a thing for insecure characters in a romance, but that's not all that unusual in yaoi. I do like that she offers characters happy endings typically. With one exception, everyone has ended up happy in everything I've read of hers. I can't wait to read more of her stuff. The only ongoing story hasn't been updated in a year. D: Noooooo.
Natsujikan
One of my favorite authors, but this collection never gets less depressing. I miss when there was tons of new stuff from her, but honestly, most of it does fall either on the crack comedy side or the heartbreaking side. The times when it's in between are few. But when it works, it really works.
Gap
Is that really the end? Such a sad conclusion! I hope he finds a way to prevent it. That guy is his only friend. Anyway, the first story was very creepy. It actually made me shudder. The second story was really interesting! I would love to see more like it. Sad that it's so short. I really like the concept.
Ore no Kirai na Tsugaisama
Meh. The only thing that stopped me from taking it down to two stars is that the pair from the first story still hate each other by the end, and it's still super fucked up. I was worried they'd start to fall for one another and the story would try to be cutesy, like that's possible after rape and humiliation and all that. Most of the stories felt like they cut off mid-scene. Overall, just kind of a disappointment. I've definitely read worse, but I'm already forgetting the stories I hadn't already read. I skimmed almost all of the sex scenes, of which there were many, because the dynamic grossed me out. Also, too many fluids. Pretty art, though.
Kyuuhankagai Fukurokouji
The main story wasn't really for me. Too rushed, kinda cheesy. I couldn't really get into it because everything moved so quickly. It made them all seem weird and illogical. The third story, however, was interesting. I love the way it was framed, and the subtle shift with the girl. Realizing this guy they all idolize is a sadist. The simple change from the beginning. I really loved that final line, "...I don't..."
The Long Hair in the Attic
He has good ideas now and then, and sometimes I really wish he'd explore them more. Ultimately, his execution is just too clunky to be satisfying. He often either jumps around too much and too quickly, or he completely draws everything out for far too long. It's a shame, because he could do something really interesting with some of this, but it never really pans out.
