Yakozen

Complete | JARYUU Dokuro | 2000 released

I really enjoy seeing a BL manga that dissects different elements of love and relationships. It's so rare to see an unhealthy relationship portrayed as such, and it's almost unheard of for a character to end up with a guy who's healthier for him in the end. Very sweet, though it was a bit abrupt and confusing in places. Still, I really liked it. I'd enjoy reading more about the main two, but I was still satisfied with what there is.

Tamen De Gushi

Ongoing | Tan Jiu | 2000 released

I really like this so far! Lovely art, likable characters, sweet plot. I would have given it five stars, but I thought it was going to avoid that super typical "one person really likes the other, but the other pretends to be straight for half the story," and I'm disappointed that it's fallen into that typical equation. Regardless, I look forward to seeing it from here on out, and I'll be glad when they just get past the stupid already and start dating. I hope that isn't too long from now. ETA: Aww, I wanna see more of that guy who kissed Qin Xiong! But there are so many passing characters who don't seem to actually have anything to do with the story that I won't hold my breath. It's a shame, though, cause he was hot, and I already wanted to know more about him just from that brief interaction.

Dead White

Complete | billy balibally | 2015 released

I debated back and forth on whether or not the black haired guy was just imagining all of this in order to cope with the fact that the blond died before the black haired one could return and save him, or if all of the foreshadowing and hinting didn't mean anything, and it was just a rushed story that could have been a lot better. I'm really on the fence, because all of it, even telling him that they're leaving to get his things, could be him imagining what would have happened if he'd come back in time. I feel like that's more heavily emphasized when the guy is talking about how he left. But if it's a really straight forward story about two guys getting to be together after the other's abusive dad died... well... I mean, if the concept had been fleshed out, it could work, but as it was, it was too short and rushed to have much impact. I don't like sad endings, but in this case, I think the sad ending would have been stronger and made more sense.

RESTART (Harada)

Complete | Harada | 2000 released

Read this one already in one of her other anthologies, but I read it again because I love it and it makes me cry. Even though it's a little bittersweet, this one is actually a happy ending in its own way. They love one another, and that's all that matters, even if they had to go through that stuff to be able to admit it. At least now they can be together.

Tomarigi (Torch)

Complete | Harada | 2000 released

Aww, that was very sweet. It made me cry really hard. I think I'm kind of emotional today.

Yoru To Asa No Uta

Complete | harada | 2015 released

While the way the seme treated the uke throughout the story was horrid, at least he didn't rape him, which is like 90% of the manga out there, so I can tolerate their unhealthy relationship a little more. And in the end, it really did seem like they were going to be kind to one another and treat each other well. So I really enjoyed it. Plus, I love Harada, so I'm naturally going to enjoy her work to some degree.

Namida Kareru Na

Ongoing | ando romeda | 2016 released

Hm. Beautiful art, and it has a dash of the hurt/comfort stuff that I'm really into, but it's kind of rushed and confusing, so I'm a little confused by how emotionally invested so many people are. I feel bad for Maya, but he's with this dude now, and it seems like things are gonna be fine. I guess I just wish it had been longer before it all got fixed. I needed more time to grow attached to the character. But it's pretty, so four stars rather than three.

Hebi no Seikatsu

Complete | Katashina | 2015 released

Gaaaaahhhhh. Okay, unlike the one I just read by the same scanlation team, this one freaking killed me. I cried so hard over that first story. Wtf, why do all of these things have really sad or bittersweet endings? I wanna read more about these character's, damn it. I have to say that, aside from the endless rape-to-love in most of the Omegaverse stories, I really like the setup. It has its flaws (like even if you're married to a beta, if you're an omega and an alpha rapes you, then you're with them forever? What?), but I would love to read more stories surrounding it. Less rapey would be nice, or at least less rapey from the guy he ends up with, at least.

Sayonara Alpha

Complete | ICHINASHI Kimi | 2016 released

Wow. That's about the least creepy direction this kind of premise could go. It's actually really sweet, and I'm hoping we'll get a chapter of them in the future, so that they can get it on without Chris Hansen coming in.

Namaiki Hierarchy

Ongoing | hinako | 2016 released

Damn it. I loved the first story, and I ADORE the art, but that second story is just so creepy. And not in the fun way. I just can't stand yaoiland rules where assault isn't assault as long as it turns out the dude had a boner for you all along. Molesting a sleeping person is gross, and it made it really hard for me to keep reading. Had to drop my five star rating down because of it. What's worse is it's the longest story in here. It's a yaoi cliche full of uncomfortable stuff, so I'm pretty disappointed. I'll keep my review for the other story here, though. FIRST STORY: Very cute so far. I was worried something else would happen and misunderstandings would delay them coming together. Glad that wasn't the case! It was actually really cute how he was purposely teasing him and planning to finally reward him. I wish more manga touched on that, because there's something kind of hot about a guy making another guy wait just for fun, even though he knows they're going to have sex in the end.
