Keep Moaning, I'm Watching You
Hesitantly giving it a four for now. Just the one chapter, so I don't know how to gauge it. I do love innocent love between little kids, like before it's even sexual, just the cute little crushes before they grow up and hormones set in. I wish there were more stories like it. I feel like it's either only little snippets, or it ends in something sad. Or worse, they think their friend is a girl and are shocked to find it was a guy later. x_x But yeah, the guys are pretty. I guess we'll see how it goes. EDIT: Yeaaaaah not sure this is for me. The fetish is one thing, but the fact that the other guy is like, oh, well, what if I still want to date you even though you had me raped? I can't with the yaoi rape forgiveness.
LOVELESS
Aw, that wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be based on how people were reacting. It's sad, but not so sad. He realized he can love. This isn't the end of his story. The good news is he can love again. And maybe this time he'll better understand his feelings. Pretty art, very brief story. It would have hurt more if it were longer, that's for sure. Not sure why it's tagged as a tragedy though. That being said, I did still cry, but I'm a wuss who cries at everything, haha.
SMILE
Aww, what a beautiful, touching story. I'm so glad they were both able to break through their emotional barriers. I'm surprised so many people consider this a sad ending. I think it's very happy and very hopeful. Facing that pain, they could have given up, but they persevered. What happens after that is ambiguous in some ways, but we do know for sure that they're happy, and someday Ren gets his smile back. The bullying and teacher reactions and such were hard to sit through, and I hate that those shits got away with it. But a lot of awful people get away with awful things, and smaller towns can still be very homophobic and xenophobic (hence how they mocked Wayne for being a foreigner). I'm relieved it didn't fall to pieces when everyone kept calling it "realistic." Sometimes that's code for "they die or break up." Which is really annoying, because it might be realistic on some level, but it's not like it's the standard. EDIT: Holy crap, that additional information. This almost had a brutal ending. O_O Glad they changed it, honestly. It would have been powerful, but it would have been so miserable. Similar to a beautiful Korean short film about homophobia and bullying, only it goes through with the sad ending. :(
Nakittsura ni Hug
So sweet and sad! And hot. That scene when they're at his place, holy crap. It's weird, I see sex in yaoi all the time, but something about that scene, even with just hand stuff. But I hate that I have to wait for the next chapter. It ended on the painful part. Hopefully Takeru will see through it and come after him.
A Wicked Beast
I don't really know what to say. It's not a perfect comic, but I do like stories about writers, and the mystery/supernatural element is great. I appreciate that it actually has a plot and action and such. I'm hoping I can buy an official translation eventually, though, because I feel like we miss out with the poor translations. Up to chapter 51, it seems like we've got someone better than the person who was translating the 20s and 30s. I appreciate that they're doing that, but we're still missing out on the full meaning of the story. Better than nothing, but still. Wolf in sheep's clothing, everyone trying to bang this guy... But I like it so far. I'm looking forward to more chapters.
The Perfect Relationship
Pretty sad, fucked up story. Definitely depressing with no real relief. I feel so bad for that high school student, though I'm glad he was given comfort and held and such, allowed to cry. I hope that after this, he and the other guy, the main dude's boyfriend, both have happier lives. Maybe he'll help the high schooler get out of his situation. Maybe when he's older, they'll date, and they can both feel like they accomplished things they thought they wouldn't. Either way, definitely a downer, but most of the characters weren't likable enough for it to really sting. His son, though. Ugh, it was so cruel. Right into the end, just how kind and trusting he was. Not something I'd reread, but not awful. Just a bummer.
Our Gamble in Bed
Very pretty art, and I like the idea of school rivals coming together later. As of two chapters, though, they've barely touched on their past, so I'm guessing that won't be a heavy feature. It's nothing amazing, but the seme is hot, and I think he loves the uke already, so that's sweet.
Maku ga Oritara Bokura wa Tsugai
Why does it say completed? It's on the second volume, so maybe they just didn't switch it over. Anyway, I love a sweet and self-controlled alpha. He didn't want to hurt the uke at all, even with the rut part where he tells him to stay away because he doesn't know what he might do. I really like those "fighting the urge" tropes from the alpha side, where they try to be kind and responsible. Also, the cousin is hot. It's weird to me that cousin incest is so normal and accepted in Japan but... whatever. It's just fiction anyway. I need to go back and read it more carefully, but I'll do that when chapter nine comes out.
Kimi wa Mou Kamenai
That was way too rushed and all over the place to be effective. I like the concept, but they could have done so much more with it. Plus, what was with all the other stuff that was never addressed? Like that weird exchange with the youngest brother, which sounded like he was interested in being with his elder brother himself. I don't even know, maybe more is supposed to come, but if this is a standalone manga, I feel like it's pretty lacking. If a follow up does come out, though, I can forgive the poor pacing here if the next volume is better. God, the scene with the mate coming back? It was like a manic fever dream, dear lord.
