Yajirushi

Complete | Harada | 2015 released

Heartbreaking, twisted, incredibly fucked up. But I loved it. This is just a field trip into the mind of a psychopath/sexual predator, and it's a terrifying but strangely alluring journey. I wanted to cry a few times because I felt for the victims so much. I guess the fact that I enjoy reading stuff like this when I have an overabundance of empathy makes me a bit of a masochist. Oh well, heh.

Thirsty for Love

Complete | takaguchi satosumi | 2001 released

Very sad in ways, very screwed up in other ways, but I liked it back when I first read it. It's messed up, and there's no love or kindness really, but it still resonates as an emotional story.

Yami Bl

Ongoing | asou mitsuaki, kizuki jin, konjiki runa, kuroda kuz , london pariko, mitsumi kokusei, ogawa chise, oshima akiko, shoowa, takahashi, oshi | 2013 released

Very depressing but in a satisfying way. That's all I can really ask. I'm eager to see the other stories, so I hope they're translated soon. ETA: I was surprised, at first, that chapter four wasn't as fucked up as the rest. After a second read through, I really like it. I think cheerful creepy is some of the best creepy, that moment when things seem okay, but we know they're not. Chapter five was quite morbid and hilarious. It's nice to have a little dark humor in there to even out the soul-crushing stories.

Sasayaku no wa Sono Yubi

Complete | YAMAKAMI Riyu | 2000 released

And then he realized his true feelings, and all of the rape and torture and choking and kidnapping were okay! Hurray! Seriously, though, at least I knew what I was getting into reading this. For what it was, it wasn't too bad. I had already prepared myself for the irritating "it's okay because love" trope, so it didn't bug me as much as it could have.

Aseru

Complete | monchi kaori | 2005 released

Really screwed up, kinda weird, and then it just ends. Pretty depressing.

Déjà-vu (monchi Kaori)

Ongoing | monchi kaori | 2000 released

The first one... I don't know if it was just poorly translated or what, but it was really confusing. I get what happened, mostly, but as things were occurring, I was mostly lost. The second one was a lot better, even though it was equally fucked up. I enjoyed it in the sense that it was treated as something dark and sick. I feel like most stories like this don't truly delve into that, the whole sexual predator element. Though, of course, it's too much to ask to see a guy like that actually pay for what he did to a child. Oh well, fiction!

Kedamono Hatsujouki!!

Complete | wada mayuko | 2014 released

I probably would have given this less stars based on the first two chapters, but I really like the sexual interaction between the two semes. It's nice to see everyone getting it on with everyone. The endless rape that is never dealt with I could do without, but I feel like the manga got better as it went along. I liked the student and teacher one, even though it was short and abrupt, mostly because of the teacher's "yeah, why not" attitude, which made me laugh. The brother thing... It was sort of random, very short, so I don't really get the point of it being in there. But whatever. Decent manga. I would have given it two stars if it were just more of the first two chapters throughout, but three and a half stars for making things a bit more interesting.

Owaranai Fukou Ni Tsuite No Hanashi

Complete | ogawa chise | 2013 released

It rubs me the wrong way that most people will probably excuse the rape scene since it's the uke raping the seme, but whatever. The fact that it's so easily forgiven isn't at all unusual for yaoi, even when the seme is especially violent, so this is no different. I really like spin-off books for stories I enjoyed to begin with, so despite that one thing, I had fun reading this. It's kind of annoying at times, mostly just how emo and self-pitying the main guy is, but I also feel for him as far as his fear for his happiness ending. It's a sweet story, regardless. I'm glad it had a happy ending, even if it was sort of implausible as it was. I wish more manga would promote the concept of bisexuality, rather than the "I'm straight, but I'm gay for you" trope.

Like as the Time Will Come When it Will Rain

Complete | KUNIEDA Saika | 2000 released

I love this mangaka so much, and I love the stories, especially the rain one. I just wish the ending weren't so ambiguously sad.
