otakulys's manga / #childhood friends(71)

Ichi Ni no San!

Complete | Okuyama Puku | 2013 released

Switched from four stars to five by the end. This was super sweet. I want to read more about these boys. And the other two! And the three friends in general. I just love that mixed gender friendship stuff. I'm sad this is over. It had several elements that are sadly a bit rare in BL manga.

Kitto Kiss O Suru Toki

Complete | kanda neko | 2015 released

This is very cute and sweet so far. I also really love that the brothers are so close, and there's no incest involved. Especially after it was revealed that they aren't blood relation. It's just nice to see platonic love between boys among the sexual. Yaoi-land tends to list romantic love above all other love, so I enjoy seeing it deviate from that.

Ryoute Ni Darling

Complete | uzuki jun | 2011 released

The guys were both on the pushy side, of course, but not as bad as it usually is in yaoi. The chemistry wasn't as strong as it has been in the few other threeway relationships I've read, but I liked the characters and thought it was cute. I hope we get to see more of them and how it's all working out. And it's Yaoi-land, so I suppose we can forgive the fact that the one guy tried to date rape him.

Kedamono Hatsujouki!!

Complete | wada mayuko | 2014 released

I probably would have given this less stars based on the first two chapters, but I really like the sexual interaction between the two semes. It's nice to see everyone getting it on with everyone. The endless rape that is never dealt with I could do without, but I feel like the manga got better as it went along. I liked the student and teacher one, even though it was short and abrupt, mostly because of the teacher's "yeah, why not" attitude, which made me laugh. The brother thing... It was sort of random, very short, so I don't really get the point of it being in there. But whatever. Decent manga. I would have given it two stars if it were just more of the first two chapters throughout, but three and a half stars for making things a bit more interesting.

Are You Enemy?

Complete | Miyamoto Kano | 2001 released

I'm finally getting around to re-reading/fully reading all of Miyamoto Kano's work, but I'm pretty confused by some of the order here. This particular manga was oddly ordered on the site. I'm hoping I didn't miss anything. Maybe I should just find the DL to be sure. Anyway, this is her early work, so it didn't have some of the same emotional impact that I can usually find in her work. Still, it's a nice start, and I love how she has stories that span over multiple characters, etc. Not Love up next...

Ore no Doukyuusei ga Binkan sugite Yabai

Complete | Harada | 2014 released

Very cute little short. It isn't dark and depressing or heartbreaking like most of Harada's stuff, haha. It reminds me of when you fool around with your friends when you're younger, and I like that it didn't immediately turn into them both loving each other, like it really started as them just being horny kids. The fact that feelings developed later makes more sense than them secretly wanting each other all along. Either way, cute, but a little too short. ETA: I was excited for the continuation, but the dubcon nature of so many of her sex scenes bums me out a bit. I love Harada so much, but she has a clear kink for the seme hurting the uke and pressuring him during sex, then the uke is just like, "okay, cool," despite the fact that he was just crying and telling the seme to stop and saying it hurts. Annoying, but at least their relationship was sweet outside of that. I wonder if it'll continue, since that sad little end about them not being able to tell anyone about their relationship. I appreciate that both parties are clearly invested by the end, so it isn't just constantly one person pursuing and the other caving.

Tasogare wa dare

Complete | Kitahata Akeno | 2000 released

I liked it up to the rushed ending. I felt like it could have done well with a bittersweet ending, but it was ultimately like "oh hey, I guess everything is fine now!"

Boku no Suki na Nii-chan

Complete | NAKAMURA Asumiko | 2000 released

It was sweet and had a nice, coming of age sort of feel. There was nothing creepy between the man and child, and it was more of a little boy's first experience with love and not a predator messing with a kid. It ends too abruptly, though. It's like, "Oh, by the way, this happened. The end." But before that, I liked it, even with the quick pacing. I'd give it 3.5 stars.
